    Kevin/Jenn,

Thank you again for another great podcast and for the opportunity to comment.

I personally liked Perdition a lot, even though there was so much going on that it felt like a few scenes were rushed.

My two heros for Perdition are:

    1. Joseph LoDuca for the absolutely epic score (e.g. music during the fight with the sisters of the dark). WOW! IMHO, the LOTS score is a huge component of the show, and in Perdition, LoDuca outdid himself.

    2. Sister Verna: high five also to Verna for defying the Prelate when the situation seemed truly hopeless. Perdition captured the essence of the relationship between Verna and the Prelate that in the books it’s played out extensively in “Blood of the Fold”. Loved it! Like you, I really hope to see Verna again this season.

Finally, I commend the writers for the way they picked up a thread from season 1, episode 5, “Listener”, where for the first time, Kahlan talks about the the Sisters of the Light in Thandor. And we get to see one. In Perdition, we learn how the Sisters of the Light at the Palace of the Prophets are related to the sisters in Thandor. Nice save!!!

Like you said, a few threads in this episode were rushed. Kahlan arrived at the Palace of the Prophets and didn’t even bother introducing her companions. I know time is limited, but c’mon!! And how at the end Verna just disappears and doesn’t even get a thank you from Richard and Kahlan.

Re. Richard’s wizard powers (or wizard juice)… I have the feeling the writers are holding on to them for the season finale. Who knows.

I now join the millions of fans that will suffer from LOTS withdrawal syndrome over the next two weeks :-)
“Thank the Spirits” for the Seekercasts and Deej’s Craky Recaps!

I loved the podcast. Anything LoTS I just have to watch :D

When Kevin was talking about how he did not like it too much the first time because of the discomfort from the emotional scenes. I found my self wondering why you would not like that? When a TV show can make me feel emotions I applaud it! I never really get teary eyed during movies or shows but this one has made me a bit teary eyed at times because of how attached ive become to the characters.

Keep up the good work. Ill make sure to keep up with you guys as this was my first time listening in.

    -John

Thanks for doing a great job guys, I have been catching up on all your podcasts this week and now looking forward to new ones.

I am a hardcore bookie but I have come to enjoy the show as a separate entity. It’s sometimes hard to get behind all the changes that have been made but some are for the better from tv perspective and for the most part the writers have managed to keep the relation-ship of Richard & Kahlan intact. Regarding Perdition, while it is done differently from the books it did have some elements so I was happy with that and overall this was probably one of the most pleasant looking episodes to date. The formation and music behind the sisters of dark attack was amazing. The only gripe I have with this episode (and this is the bookie in me) is with regards to Richard’s worst fears and Kahlan having a family. From the books it’s quite clear that Richard’s worst fears were around Kahlan dying or turning into a mord’sith. It was never about Kahlan having a family. Even aside from the books, I can see Kahlan taking a mate to continue the confessor’s line but I just don’t think she would have ever taken on a family. If the keeper had won the war Kahlan would simply want to spend the rest of her days with Richard. That just gave away the whole sequence as a lie to me and I guess that makes me a better seeker than Richard :)

Keep up the good work guys…

Hey Kev and Jenn the PC duo!!! Great PC…so much …where do I start???!!??
Under clean up/tidying up from previous: Denna…ohh my fav gal..this one I really think would cause Richard to sway (do I want that no), she is out to do him in on her own terms and she wants all of him…I really think there is an offer being made by Darken Rahl, the Keeper’s Deal man for her to come again and I truly hope it is well written, because Denna and Richard face off could be quite revealing and dramatic ;) if they don’t shame on them — would be deliciously evil.

Perdition – omgoodness! Craig is the master of emotions. I did not expect to see the Seeker cry..really cry. My heart stopped. His line “What have I done” harks back to his always thinking about what he did when he killed DK (in my thoughts) — Wizard’s Second Rule–great harm coming from the best intentions which he quotes to Verna too. And Verna says it to Richard in Dark. I can usually handle all of Craig’s great acting — but I’m sorry I can’t breath when I think about this scene and the Denna ending scene with him..the hurt he is showing goes beyond all words…ouch! Craig. Bridget, Tabrett, Verna, Bruce all the actors were really great. I just take Richard’s hand each week and take the journey. I like the fact that we know our hero. He does not believe for one second that any of this is true. So what does the loss of food/water and a trip in the desert do — hallucintations, and the ultimate: tell the lie as many times and twist it until it becomes true… Zedd said something about people believe a lie because they want to, it’s easier — Everyone he believed in and thought believed in him was lost to him but particularly Kahlan. Everyone “betrayed” him… was a thought I had. Thank goodness the evil doers went over the top and ask him to die – Richard woke up – his dreams did not kill him. “I have to go.”
Kahlan – girl listen to your own advice: “It’s a hard world Cara. If you have feelings for him you should tell him.” Woman let’s make sure Richard knows how you feel–tell him directly!! I want to see this guy happy for a change, wrapped around the woman he loves and adores for more than 3 minutes!!
Verna – LOVE HER — 25 yrs searching for this guy and now she’s going to turn her back on him, move over prelate!! I wanted to stand up and cheer, whistle, the whole shabang…YES she saw through the Prelate. Not afraid to take on the world for Richard and she was willing to die for him (which Richard never likes to hear) Great Cara and Verna in protect mode for Kahlan
ZEDD – sweet gesture – hand on shoulder —
Jenn/Kev spoke about time — it seems def of time kept changing assume to underline the justification for moving on with “lives” for epi and of course reason in Dark Richard leaves too because he doesn’t want “years” to go by before he seems “his loved ones again” — but in connection to Cara – on way to the Old World Cara mentions to Zedd to turn them into birds because they have been traveling for so long — “weeks” I believe she said…which by def is months and then it leapt to yrs.

Awkward moments: Leo is fried to a crisp someone forgot to give him the manual to the SOT use the blade to deflect, would really have liked to see Leo and Richard in some scenes/situations (why did the romance between Leo and Cara have to be so split second?? — and where did my heroine Verna go to — make up in the desert scenes for Richard out of sync– makeup for Kahlan in various outfits seemed out of sync too

I have probably watched this one far too many times — cause it hurts to swallow and breath and it doesn’t get easier — but it is a great epi Thanks for letting me chat..see you somewhere on the boards…deras

  5. Great podcast guys! I’ll have to work on getting a better ear-piece for when I’m at the station trying to sneak in a quick comment before dispatch comes over the air or a truck rolls out.

If you guys want some lulz/giggles (and so obvious) watch as Richard gets up from the sand. In one scene the sand on his face is wet, in the very next scene it is dry, and then it goes back to being wet again. I know, I have far too much free time. Details folks, details!

I think derascal does raise an interesting point when stating “It would have been interesting to see Leo and Richard in some scenes”. For sure, the dynamic there could have provided a whole seasons worth of side-plot.

Since we are diverging from the books a fair bit they could have had both men going for the attentions of Kahlan. Leo gets tired of being snuffed by Cara but being the pimp Seeker that he is he moves on to the next mega hottie. So it works like this.

Cara wakes up and realizes that ‘its a tough world’ so she chases after Leo.
Leo, who is tired of waiting for her and decides to chase after Kahlan.
Kahlan, who in turn only wants Richard, focuses on finding a way to get him his Wizard Juice back AND love him at the same time.
Richard is oblivious to all of this and focuses on the sharp pointy thing on his hip instead of the soft and sexy thing in his arms.

    Call the episode “Shall Game”.

What do we get instead? Leo doesn’t get to read the instructions to the Sword of Truth and gets KFC’d (Extra Crispy) so quickly that he may not even become a foot-note in the Legend of the Seeker mythos.

  6. WonderJenn says:

Some great feedback folks, thank you! And Michael, thanks for the KFC’d (Extra Crispy). It was a sprite-through-the-nose moment. :)
