I Love Tabrett Bethell from Legend of the Seeker. She has played the role of Cara beautifully.
“Wizard” seemed like a filler. Definitely not my favorite episode, but I agree with you guys. It’s a turning point for Cara. I really think this is when Kahlan realizes what a great addition Cara is. We can now predict that next time Cara meets Shota, it will be “Look Kahlan: no hands! no hands!
Loved the comment one of your callers left via voice mail about prophecy vs. truth. Makes a lot of sense.
Please keep doing these podcasts.
It was great to hear the PC trio together again. Wizard Episode — been awhile. Gabriel Mann was outstanding: voice, height, lack of humility. I took the episode by itself filling in a bit more about Zedd’s young years. On one of the forums we batted about some character development on Zedd. Last season I had sketched for my own amusements a past for him. It was interesting to see their perspective versus mine. I believe in Revenant Thaddius, Zedd’s brother, mentions what a show off, how self-involved, obnoxious, self-important person Zedd behaved in his youth. In a few other first episodes it was suggested he was a ladies man. My notion was he definitely was dashing, alluring and until aging brought him some humility… overconfident. I figured Shota helped to crystalize his preferences in women and back off the bombshells, witches and dangerous liaisons. Taddius it seems has no gifts of magic so perhaps partially jealous of his brother, he did seem to be the easy brunt of an immature, gifted, precocious Zedd. So a grown up Zedd in his early invincible years of 18-30…yeah bring it on: king, first wizard, seeker, healer, yeah, yeah!! Look at me! Thump, thump — Tarzan of the Midlands.
I guess the “taverns” of the times offered a variety of relaxing pleasures for Mord Sith and Wizards: warm meals, sweet pleasures, and diversions. Nice to know Richard differs a bit from his grandfather there.
I liked seeing that both Zedd and Richard have some family traits although like George but like Zedd too –characteristics — helping others less fortunate, realizing brutes and thugs and stepping in to change what they could, helping the damsel in distress. That sense of justice, right and wrong. Also both Richard and Zedd seem to think that those that love them would not purposely harm them. Zedd couldn’t believe Cylindra would dupe him. Kahlan at first was real prophecy driven, foresake everything to get to the qwest. Of course both men have a keen eye for appreciating beautiful women.
Enjoyed Shota again…the woman scorned with a long memory for getting back! Cara came through with flying colors going after Zedd, putting Shota in her place and proving that she is on Lord Rahl’s side. (Shota should have remembered from their trip to the future Cara teamed with Richard not her.)
I liked the crafting of the visuals in filming. The two worlds, the two men merging… I do get confused on just what kinds of magic everyone can and cannot do.
Think Richard tells SHota too again his theory on prophecy, not. He said something in Reckoning too: he changed the future…it’s not written in stone.
Great… have a good day!!
