Had fun listening this week!
I’m not much of a reader. In fact I never really read at all. I had never finished a book longer then 300 pages until I found Seeker and I got the book from a friend and could not put it down.
I can’t believe you need to be bribed to read the first book. You would have to bribe me to put down the first book
Something I realized last night while watching some Season 1 episodes, is that I really miss Season 1 Kahlan. ( http://twitpic.com/1akkuf ) Not just the look but also how innocent she was at times. I loved her look the most, it was very real and innocent, but i guess it really goes against who she really is but I found the TV series first so i had no idea when i first started watching. Also lets all be honest we all liked Richards short hair LOL! I love Bridget no matter how she looks on the show but just an opinion…
Thanks for doing this podcast every week, all of you! It’s good to have something to keep me entertained while I wait for each episode its hard to wait so long in between episodes
What can I say. I sound like a broken record when I say I really, really enjoy your podcasts! You rock the Seeker fandom! Period!
Re. “Bound”, keeping in mind that I’m a bookie and have the “books filter”, Bound is one of my top 3 episodes this season (the other two are Perdition and Fury, both, like Bound full of powerful emotions). I thought Bound was a great adaptation from “Faith of the Fallen” truly delving into personal beliefs, emotions and the true essence of both Richard and Kahlan. This episode kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. And I agree with you. What a superb performance from Michael Nouri!!!
I want to also pay tribute to Cara and Zedd. Cara for proving she’s a changed Mord Sith by showing her concern for Kahlan the entire time. Did you notice Cara’s face when Richard says “Good to see you too Cara” when team Seeker is reunited? I thought her proud face was priceless! And I loved seeing Zedd stepping in his role as first wizard to free Kahlan. Way to go!
And as usual the epic music with the most dramatic tracks from Marked, Perdition, Reckoning (S1), Confessed (S1), etc. was a treat for the eardrums.
Jenn, Yes. I noticed Cara’s hair too. Actually both Cara and Richard had a really bad air day. Cara’s hair looked like her old, long braid was just cut off in the first episode, “Marked”. And Richard really needs a hair cut!!
Sorry. I forgot to ask you. What did you think of the “Bound” reviews? I was disappointed this episode didn’t get better grades.
IGN review: 7.3 out of 10, http://tv.ign.com/articles/105/1055286p1.html
Dauntless Media: overall grade B, http://dauntlessmedia.net/legend-of-the-seeker/2-06-fury-review.html
The Torch Online: 3 and half torches (out of 5), http://thetorchonline.com/2009/12/13/legend-of-the-seeker-episode-review-2-6-richard-meets-his-inner-evil-xena/
This was a fun podcast. I laughed out loud at the comment about Nikki and finding the stone of tears.
I must say, I was also quite disappointed in Cara’s hair. Maybe all the wizardly hair products he used on her in Princess fried it, lol!
Hey PC Trio..Good to hear ya all!! Thought this episode was tighter in scope and sequence and execution although I had some concerns with contradictions about confession: Kahlan’s explanation what type of person the confessor takes for a mate vs what she said in Bound and of course her actions in Torn. The other quandrum was the issue of Sacrifice when Richard explains Dennae’s son cannot harm Finn re confession; yet we hear Frederick talk about his fear of his children. Just contradictions/confusion for a series follower, not a bookie. The music was awesome for this episode. Other awesome mentions: Craig Horner’s fantastic execution of his role with a number of emotional changes throughout and he succeeded at everyone. Craig has the nuances as well as the playhouse 90 drama, he truly is an amazing actor. Emily Foxler (sp?) excellent as Nicci, lethal prefer her to Jolene, Michael Nouri always delivers, Bridget’s responses to dad’s evolution and we see her wrestle with feelings and issues. This episode was wonderful to explore emotions and essence of R/K. Zedd was masterfully effective. Tree treasure chest didn’t work for me, the issue with trap in the caves not well executed. The compassion of R/K concerned and worried about the other. Exciting to finally see Kahlan actually animated to see Richard and met him with emotion instead of it being Richard. What can we say about Richard’s continued gathering of the masses of women he has kissed. I laughed once to myself…Resurrection is the one that brought home to me with Denna…OK here we go again, not just one but more than one — so dubbed him olympic kisser — and boiled it down to crowning him OK…Princess has kept the legend going too!! (lol) Anyway, this was great to get together again with ya all!! An overall super ride in this episode. Oops hair!! please save the seeker and style his hair!! Cara needs conditioner too, eh? Hope we hear soon about season 3 and it would really be nice to hear 3 and 4 were locked up!! Enjoy the week!!
Fredrick was released from confession when Kahlan’s mother died and so he could be confessed again by Kahlan or Dennee. As for taking a mate confessors are required to take a strong man for a mate and they can take any man they want, it’s just that most confessors would take enemies or criminals as mate so as not to destroy a kind heart.
Just catching up today! Great podcast! IMHO the best part for me is seeing the Richard and Kahlan from the books…their only thoughts and concerns are for each other never of themselves! also I love Emily Foxler as Nicci she is doing great bringing the Nicci from the books to life…I agree with Kurt the writers do not have the time on Television to take the time to trully bring out her character but they have done great so far cant wait to see more nods to the books for her and the rest of the series!!! Love the Show!!! Cant wait for the rest of the season it is going to be EPIC!!! Thanks again for everything you do on your PodCast!
