YAY!
Hi..enjoyed the podcast. Thanks a lot. You mentioned how creative license is taken to cut/alter an episode/book in a series. As I am reading for the first time and not glossing through the book … I missed Chase not being more in the series and now that I read about him in the book…I really miss his not being more apart of the series. Chp. 11 I think is where we get Kahlan’s forest garb. As you mentioned the discussion of magic: the importance of the tools we use, but most importantly how we use them. I don’t remember the epi at the moment but at some point Richard tells Zedd he sees that magic is more complicated than when he spoke out of turn to lump it all together and in doing so rated it as evil. Narrative in books again as you said is different than in television. Although I think a bit more could be done in the scripts for delving into the characters, but alas someone has to make those decisions. Bravo again. Look forward to the next group of chapters(16-23).
Yay for Jenn’s laptop being back in the game, for the Seeker Rallies, and for needle scratches!! And I’ve official dated myself since I know what a needle scratch is
I agree with all your comments about chapter 9-15. This book is so beautiful, it’s so much more than a fantasy book. A lot more!
Have you noticed how humor starts to emerge in the chapters you reviewed? Just a pinch of humor here and there to lift the mood. These are my favorite humorous quotes for these chapters. Most of them are from Zedd:
“True as a boiling bog full of toasted toads”, Zedd, chapter 10.
“You answer one question, honestly, toasted toads honest.” Richard, chapter 13.
“Bags. You would think by now I would have learned not to let a Seeker ask me a question.” Zedd, chapter 13, when Richard asks Zedd if he could have married someone other than his wife.
And of course the whole part with Zedd tricking the villagers. Priceless! I guess it’s one more reason why I can’t put this book down.
