Enjoyed the discussion on the podcast today between you all. Demmin Nass and Darken Rahl were certainly well described not only outlined, colored in and detailed. Sadistic pair that they are. You mentioned how manipulative Rahl is in your discussion. This is the demeanor I think was projected by Parker in Extinction as he tries his finesse on the Seeker’s compassionate nature as he appeals to family ties and brotherly offenses caused by their father. We saw this demeanor in Fever used against Jennsen too blaming all on Richard’s calulating ways and dilutions. Otherwise in these readings I discovered in Chapter 21 Goodkind’s description of Richard’s fighting style and a “trademark” habit of Richard that Horner does not use in Chapter 23 “running his fingers and hands through his hair”. (I would think more effective with short hair than long.) More Zedd quotes: “nothing is ever easy” “Put words to it.” These are some of the information that was used for Puppeteer in Season I about Queen Milena and Princess Violet and the painter James used in Sanctuary, I believe. I enjoyed filling in some pieces. Good conversations…thanks, looking forward to the next assignment. deras
Fabulous listening!
I have to agree that Adie is my favorite character and was sad that she wasn’t in the television series more. Seeing her attitude and listening to her speech patterns makes me sometimes want to skip ahead in the books just to see what she will say and/or do.
Thank you once again for deciding to do the bookie casts.
I do have a thought about the length of the casts. It was said that they may be getting too long. Why not split it into two casts: the first part going through the synopsis and the second being the discussion? This way there are two casts a week that could go a little more in depth and not having to cram everything into a single hour. (Double the fun!!!!) I have not a clue about the logistics of making a single cast a week [let alone two] are, but if this is possible it would be great.
Can’t believe you guys are skipping a week with the books right before the spirit house/mud people portion. The upcoming portion of the story was probably my favorite section from the whole series. We really get to discover the foundations of who our characters are here.
Mmmm…Spice soup sounds good. I found the recipe on swordoftruth.com. I plan on making it this weekend to bring to our family get-together for the fourth.
