Outstanding podcast! I can tell the three of you had a lot of fun with this one
Kevin, I did love ch. 34 too, but my favorite chapters are still the ones about the Mud people. And it’s not ch. 27
I feel that with the Mud people, we discover Richard’s true character – the depth of his integrity and intelligence. He’s just met the elders and figures out that the Bird Man is really the one in charge. Even the Bird Man and Kahlan admit in separate occasions that Zedd choses his Seekers well. I love it when the Bird Man tells Kahlan that he’d like to meet the First Wizard someday.
With the Denna story line, we also find out the depth of Richard’s compassion.
And Kurt, I so agree with you about richness of the magical world that is unfortunately lost in the tv show. We really do need a Terry Goodkind Track at DragonCon next year.
Cheers,
-laura
At so many points in these 100 pages I was holding my breath and suffering for Richard yet at the same time I appreciate the details and depth with which Goodkind wrote. With the type of TV series LOTS has been (TV14) , I appreciate the Episode Denna more and the Episode Resurrection. Goodkind defintely shows the developing estranged relationship of Richard and Denna. The TV program I think allows us to see the continued influence Denna has over Richard, it is not the love he has for Kahlan and his acceptance of her.
Yet he accepts Denna… she can be nothing less nor nothing more than she is…. In the TV program I felt perhaps his understanding of Denna lead to his efforts to help Cara and give Cara that chance to change. I often felt if there was a third season perhaps there might be more of a love tangle between Richard and Denna. I know that his love for Kahlan would win out, but it would allow the exploration of the temptation Richard is powerless against around Denna until he makes himself address his situation — ras
